Food Network Canada 'Glutton For Punishment' will be at Tomato Fest!
Glutton for Punishment host Bob Blumer sets to break the Guinness world record for the largest bowl of salsa during the 26th Annual Tomato Fest (Saturday, June 12th).
To prepare for the upcoming event, a Chop-Off event will be Monday, May 10th, 5:15 p.m. at the Norman Activity Center, 526 E. Commerce in Jacksonville.
Residents who are willing to be on camera and assist Bob Blumer in making 2,000 pounds of salsa in June are encouraged to attend. Bring your knife, chopping board, tomato and red onion.
Kathleen Stanfill, Project Coordinator and Rob Gown – Sadler’s Kitchen is going to secure 15 – 20 people that can take the challenge to make salsa. Those chosen will need to be available Saturday, June 12th and part of the day on Friday, June 11th.
So come enjoy the ‘Chop-off’ and help us break the Guinness world record in June and encourage your friends to participate as well.
The 26th Annual Tomato Fest, scheduled for June 12, 2010, is fast approaching! This fun-filled day has something for everyone and no one should miss it. There is the famous Tomato Eating Contest, live entertainment all day, Gospel Concert, Kiwanis Auction, food court, arts and crafts vendors, and much more!
The fun at the Tomato Fest comes at no charge and runs all day long from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. downtown on Commerce and Austin streets, and completing the day will be a Street Dance at Chili's Restaurant from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
