    Jacksonville Independent School District
    The mission of Jacksonville Independent School District, as a community-wide partnership with a shared sense of pride, is to ensure each student develops the educational capacity necessary to reach his or her full potential and become a contributing citizen in an ever-changing, competitive world; this is accomplished through highly-skilled, caring faculty, diverse community resources, advanced technology, and facilities that provide a positive learning environment.

    Encompassing 219 square miles in Cherokee County, the Jacksonville IndependentSchool District serves nearly 5,000 students and employs nearly 900 teachers, administrators and other staff at eight campuses and support facilities.

    JISD is focused on promoting success for its students at every level and has recently been recognized for it's commitment to academic excellence. Three JISD campuses received the "Exemplary" rating from TEA, and two campuses achieved "Recognized" status. Five campuses received "Gold Performance Acknowledgements" for academic achievement. West Side and FredDouglassElementary schools are two of the 26 schools out of over 8300 campuses in the state that were nominated for the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Schools program.

    This district also has a Support Center which consists of a Technology Department, Food Service Department, Warehouse, and Maintenance Department. The Transportation Department has 53 buses and runs 47 routes each day.

    Jacksonville College
    Jacksonville College is a two-year, regionally accredited private college nestled in the rolling hills of East Texas. It is owned and operated by the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas and affiliated with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. The college was chartered by the state of Texas in 1899 and began offering classes that fall in Jacksonville, Texas. The college has continued in the same location and with the same name since its inception. Jacksonville College proudly serves a diverse student body from East Texas, as well as from various states and numerous countries.

    The mission of Jacksonville College is to provide a quality education from a biblical worldview that challenges minds, transforms lives, and equips students for servant leadership and lifelong learning. The college is approved to offer associates degress and has a liberal arts curriculum of academic transfer courses that satisfy the core requirements of a typical baccalaureate degree. Outside of class, students participate in a variety of social and academic organizations. Athletically, Jacksonville College competes quite favorably in Region 14 men's and women's basketball. In the fall of 2012, the college expanded its athletic program to include tennis and golf.

    Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary
    Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary was chartered in 1955 and began classes at its present location in 1957. The purpose of the Seminary is to provide accredited undergraduate and graduate theological education for the training of the individuals for various forms of Christian service and leadership roles.

    The Seminary is located in Jacksonville, Texas, at 1530 East Pine Street. Enrollment averages from 110 to 130 students each semester, with students from six to eight states and five to eight foreign countries.

    The Seminary is accredited to award the Associate Divinity, Bachelor of Arts in Religion, Master of Arts (Religion), Master of Arts in Church Ministries, and Master of Divinity Degree.
