Neches Wilderness Canoe & Kayak Race
The race is 20 miles, from the Neches River Authority Campground below Lake Palestine to Highway 79 near Neches & Jacksonville. You can race or just make it a float trip. If you’ve ever wanted to try paddling the Neches it’s a great day to do it! You can rent a boat or bring your own. Hamburgers & hot dogs are provided to racers at the finish line and we shuttle you back to your vehicle! Most Pros finish in 3-5 hours. Others take 4-8 hours depending on speed and number of stops. You can stop and eat lunch along the race route. Also, bring drinks, snacks and a bag lunch in case it does take you 8 hours. Wear clothes you won’t mind getting dirty. It’s an obstacle course with fallen trees to go under, over and portage around. Toughest Little Canoe Race in Texas!
