ETMC Jacksonville has been the heart of the healthcare community in Cherokee
County since the first hospital structure -- the vision of Dr. J. M. Travis --
was built at the corner of South Ragsdale and Nacogdoches streets in 1919.
Since joining the East Texas Medical Center Regional
Healthcare System in 1997 and after undergoing a $20 million
renovation project, ETMC Jacksonville stands ready to serve the
future generations of Cherokee County residents.
Recent additions to the facility include the
first cardiac catheterization lab in Cherokee County, offering
full-time, experienced staff and the services of Cherokee County's
only full-time cardiologist. This state-of-the-art service, costing
more than $1 million, is used to make a definitive diagnosis
of cardiac disease, and provides vital information for treatment.
A new 16-bed ambulatory care center offers patients
the comfort of private rooms for recovery from outpatient surgery,
chemotherapy or other services where the patient is expected
to return home the same day.
Three spacious, fully-equipped operating
rooms have been created, complemented in providing patient care
by a new six-bed post anesthesia care unit.
A new 6-bed intensive care unit
offers state-of-the-art monitoring around the clock. Each patient
bed and its monitors are visible from the nurses' station, which
allows the nursing staff to keep an even closer eye on the patients.
A broad range of diagnostic capabilities is available. Radiology
services at ETMC Jacksonville include MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography,
bone densitometry, and nuclear medicine. A complete array of
inpatient and outpatient laboratory services is offered.
Other vital community healthcare services include:
- Cherokee County's only Level III trauma-designated Emergency
Department
- Cherokee County's only Women's Care Center with three private
labor and delivery rooms, nine postpartum rooms, a nursery
and a dedicated surgical suite
- A sports medicine center
- The Mary Nell Norman Women's Reference Center, offering mammography,
bone density and community education services.
