24TH ANNUAL TOMATO FEST

SATURDAY, JUNE 14, 2008

Jacksonville, Texas will hold its 24TH Annual Tomato Festival on Saturday, June 14th. The Annual Festival will take place downtown Jacksonville on Commerce and Austin Streets in front of the historical Tomato Bowl Football Stadium.

Visitors and Jacksonville citizens alike will flock to downtown Jacksonville for the 24th Annual Tomato Fest. It is a unique opportunity to participate in outdoor activity and family fun within the confines of a world-class festival. Arts and crafts (homemade and commercial), food booths, informational booths and all kinds of great fun for the kids will be available all day. The stage will be set for a magnificent day of fun for all with the Tomato Town kids activities, the Tomato Teeth Peeling Contest, Salsa Contest, Antique Cars, the Rock Climbing Wall, Bounce House and Giant Slides, Tomato Mashing Contest, Karaoke Contest, live entertainment and so, so much more!

Local farmers will have their produce set up and a hayride will be available upon your request to take you to Jacksonville’s famous Tomato Shed where you can purchase as many tomatoes as you could possibly eat! While taking a relaxing cruise on the hayride, you will be able to get a history lesson from the beloved Shelley Cleaver telling the tales of yesteryear when the tomato was the King of the Crop.

Great music will be playing while you are shopping for that super buy that you are bound to find with the huge selection that you will have to choose from.

And, there will be food that is sure to satisfy any taste. And more, more, more music with a Gospel Concert taking center stage at 5pm inside the Norman Activity Center and the 3rd Annual Chili’s Street Dance sounds off at 7pm at Chili’s with music from Lauren Alexander, Honky Tonk Heroes, Shinebox and Derek Sholl.  

And it is all free! No parking fees or admission.
